The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre is marking World Cancer Day this year with a special projection on Gartnavel General Hospital.
February 4 is an internationally recognised date for reflection and awareness-raising around cancer.
While latest Public Health Scotland figures show improved cancer survival rates in adults, it is still a disease which has a huge impact on the population.
Early diagnosis and more effective treatments are believed to be key in tackling cancer – and The Beatson WoSCC is at the forefront of treatment and support for cancer patients.
The Beatson WoSCC is the largest cancer centre in Scotland and is the lead centre for non-surgical cancer care for the West of Scotland.
General Manager Liane McGrath said: “At The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, we think about cancer every day – and every day we think about how we treat our patients.
“This Saturday, we hope that others take some time to consider the impact of cancer.
“Most people in the west of Scotland will have experience of dealing with cancer in one form or another, whether they have had it themselves or have family members or friends who have been treated.
“They’ll know The Beatson – and we want other people to know that we’ll be there for them when they need us.”
