The former Greenock Health Centre site has been sold by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, allowing the land to be redeveloped – potentially for housing.
The sale was concluded last month with a developer, which has now taken responsibility for the site.
The former health centre, which closed when a brand new £22 million purpose-built contemporary healthcare facility opened in the spring, will now be demolished with the potential for much needed affordable housing, subject to the new owners securing the required consents and permissions.
Tom Steele, NHSGGC’s Director of Estates and Facilities said: “This is good news, as the redevelopment of the site will bring a number of economic and health benefits to the local community.
“We are pleased to have concluded the sale of the former Greenock Health Centre site swiftly and look forward to seeing how the new owners take forward the redevelopment.”
