The latest quarterly Hospitalwatch meeting at the Vale of Leven saw NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde help mark the 20th anniversary of the local patient interest group.
As well as the regular Hospitalwatch attendees, other local community groups and school pupils were invited to help mark the occasion.
Clyde sector director Melanie McColgan said: “Over the past 20 years, the relationship between the health board and Hospitalwatch has supported us in understanding what matters most to the local community, ensuring we’re able to effectively listen to our stakeholders and that we have a dialogue that ultimately helps shape how we deliver high-quality person centred care to our patients.
“I’d like to thank and congratulate Hospitalwatch on this 20 year milestone, and I look forward to continue working with the group as part of our ongoing commitment to the Vale community.”
Hospitalwatch chairman Jim Moohan added: “In 2004 and 2007, people would come to us and say, ‘I’ve heard the hospital is closing.’ We don’t hear that from the community anymore.”
The meeting itself saw updates on a range of matters including the ongoing work to allow the MSK physio department to be used once again by the MSK service whilst enhancing accommodation for front door services.
There was further discussion on national policy guidelines on redirection and plans to ensure this is adopted at Vale of Leven Hospital to ensure patients are redirected to the correct care setting and services.
The next meeting of the group is scheduled for September.
